National Sparkling Wine Week

Whether you're celebrating the 4th of July or just looking for an excuse to drink wine, sparkling wine is the perfect choice.

There are all sorts of “sparklers” to choose from, so you're sure to find one that fits your taste. If you're feeling patriotic, grab an assortment of red, white, and blue sparkling wine. Blue? Yes, you read that right, blue! Try one like Blanc de bleu which can be found at most big box wine stores nationally. 

I gravitate toward traditional styles such as Schramsberg Blanc de noirs which is a classic and stunning bubble that pairs beautifully with nearly everything. It’s possible that there’s a food combination out that that doesn’t work with this wine, but I’ve yet to find it.  Back yard burgers? Yep.  Chips and caviar? Double yep! Pizza? Oh yeah.  Thai? Affirmative.  Mac salad? Of course! Oysters, shrimp boil, grilled salmon? Absolutely.  Nachos? Yes, and guacamole too. Gummy bears? OMG, so good (there’s a story behind that one). And it’s divine on its own too.

From 4^th of July celebrations or just chillin’ with friends popping open a bottle of bubbly makes any get together instantly more fun.  It turns out that a lot of people agree, because sparkling wine sales have been on the rise in the U.S. for the past several years. And there's no sign of that trend stopping any time soon! So, put some bubbles and ice and get ready to kick off a truly sparkling week.

Vixen Entertaining Tip:

One of my favorite ways to dress up my 4th of July table is to tie red, white & blue ribbons to the stem of champagne flutes.  I make sure at least one of the ribbons is a metallic/shiny style for extra pizzazz.  To assemble, group the ribbons together,  cut to the same length, and then tie in a bow on each stem.  Its a simple and dazzling way to impress your guests.
